Eduardo Ruiz • Colombia • Pink Bourbon
Eduardo Ruiz is the owner of the farm Las Brisas. He delivers his coffee to a company named Cuatro Vientos, who work with producers in different parts of Huila to offer microlots and regional blends. The company was founded in 2018 the Gonzales family, who have backgrounds as coffee farmers themselves.
This lot is a popular variety we've had several times before, called rosado in Colombia, or Pink Bourbon in the specialty markets. This is the second coffee we're featuring right now that's called "bourbon" but is not genetically related to the Bourbon-variety. Colombia is a bit weird like that. What it actually is, though, is a variety related to Ethiopian landraces, and brings with it all of the juiciness and fruity flavours of Ethiopian coffees. It has been measured to have a higher content of glucose than other coffees, which gives a higher potential for fruit-flavours in the roasted coffee, as well as a richer and thicker body.
We sourced this coffee through Nordic Approach, a Norwegian-based coffee trader who excels in high-quality, vibrant and interesting specialty lots.
