The geisha-variety originally comes from the Gori Gesha forest in Ethiopia and is often associated with unique and floral taste profiles. Because of this it's become one of the most expensive coffee varietals in the world, breaking records at auction. At the end of the day, though, it's just a coffee varietal like any other, with a more tea-like, fruity and floral cup profile.
This lot from producer Javier Reyes Maille is what we've called an Everyday-Geisha. It's good and complex but also easy to drink. The Monzón-valley has excellent climate and conditions for specialty coffee, and Javier has done a good job cultivating this coffee. It's priced appropriately for the quality it delivers, which makes it a more accessible geisha both for the wallet and the palate!
