Alirio Rodriguez • Colombia • Pink Bourbon

Alirio Rodriguez • Colombia • Pink Bourbon
Alirio is a third-generation coffee farmers who has been growing coffee for 30 years. He bought his own farm, Finca El Recreo, when he was 15 and is today joined by his two adult children who help him at the farm.
Like most coffee farmers Alirio didn't focus on specialty coffee at first, but seeing how low the prices were for commercial coffee he transitioned in 2018. Seven years isn't a very long time when it comes to coffee cultivation where it takes three years from a coffee seed is planted until you can harvest any kind of cherry from the tree. Even so Alirio has been able to produce absolutely delicious coffees and we're very happy to show off his hard work.
Two significant issues Alirio faces as a coffee farmer are the rapidly increasing prices of everything he needs to farm, as well as the impact of the climate on coffee production. Especially the effects of unstable climate on flowering and harvesting, which can destroy entire crops.
